May 4 – May 13 @ Spencer Theatre, 4949 Cherry St., Kansas City, MO 64110

We began writing this play just as the political landscape began shifting like an underground earthquake. We thought that we were writing an historical piece, mostly factual but with fictional elements to personalize the story, pull it closer to where we thought the country was heading. The way things have rolled out over the last 18 months, the about face on so many hard fought for improvements in voting, in tamping down hatred for black and brown people, in the marginalizing of the LGBTQ community, this turning away from any thought of a “beloved community” all show history is repeating itself in ways too ugly to name…

The play has become a cautionary tale, a red light swinging at a train crossing. We’re on the wrong road, and it couldn’t have more dire consequences.
