Been in a fragile recovery – trying hard to find a way forward. I’ve read pieces in The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Huffington Post, Daily Kos, watched some of SNL last Saturday night, have had many conversations with folks from coast to coast. I’m still in shock!

For black folks who did not vote: People died so that you could vote. Does that not matter?

For educated white women who voted for Trump: Are you hard of hearing? The women Trump trash-talked & felt up were white. He has as much respect for you as he has for me. None! Does that not matter?

For white folks whose racism pushes them to vote against their own interests: Is that not yet feeling the least bit strange to you? Bizarre even? I’m not here to impugn anyone’s gray matter, but what does one gain by shackling oneself to backwardness because it angers you to see hard working people of color & women achieve? You want to burn down the house because someone told you in a dream that no matter what, you’re better than everyone else on the planet regardless of your achievements?

For millennials who kissed off the election because you wanted Bernie Sanders: I hope this madness was not your second choice. Did you think through what was really at stake?

We’ve been here before – in the 19th and early 20th Centuries. That’s not saying much for us now.
